Born in Titusville, Florida, Mr. Bennett was a graduate of Astronaut High School, and Brevard Community College. He obtained both a B.S. and M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Central Florida. Mr. Bennett is currently a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Florida.
Mr. Bennett began his engineering career in 1992 as Engineering Assistant with the USDA Soil Conservation Service in Orlando, Florida. While employed with the SCS, Mr. Bennett gained valuable knowledge in various conservation practices, properties of soils, surveying, irrigation design, and water quality testing.
In 1993, Mr. Bennett accepted a Project Engineer position with Greiner (acquired by URS in 1996), a national engineering and surveying firm, in their Orlando, Florida office. At Greiner, Mr. Bennett worked on numerous transportation projects for the Florida Department of Transportation and local municipalities. His primary responsibility while employed at Greiner was the design, plan production, and stormwater permitting for various roadway related projects.
In 1996, Mr. Bennett accepted a Professional Consultant III position with Wilson, Miller, Barton & Peek, Inc., a 300-person planning, engineering, and surveying firm, in their Sarasota, Florida office. While employed at Wilson-Miller, Mr. Bennett was responsible for the design, plan production and preparation of contract documents for various land development, stormwater management and transportation projects.
In 1998, Mr. Bennett joined Fleis Associates, Inc. as a Project Manager. In February 2000, Mr. Bennett and Edward M. Fleis, P.E. incorporated the firm Fleis & Bennett Engineering, Inc. As Vice President of Fleis and Bennett Engineering, Mr. Bennett was responsible for oversight of the office staff and the design, regulatory permitting, and construction phase services associated with land development project.
In 2007, Mr. Bennett incorporated Bennett Consulting Services, LLC. a civil engineering firm specializing in land development projects.
Mr. Bennett has been a Design Engineer and Project Manager of numerous public works and private land development projects in the Central Florida area where he has gained a broad range of experience in the field of civil engineering.
